Compulsory elements in your Diploma cover the main things you need to know about the Creative and Media sector.
Functional Skills in English, maths and ICT
All Diploma students need to achieve a minimum standard in English, maths and ICT.
Work experience
With a Diploma you’ll get to learn all about your chosen subject through a range of core and optional elements. You’ll also get at least 10 days’ work experience. This is a great way to use the skills you have learn in the classroom and experience what work is like from the inside.
Student Project
You will also be required to complete a Student Project. This is to demonstrate the skills and knowledge that you have learnt on your Diploma course. You can choose your own project, so you might decide to help organise or publicise a community arts event. This could involve anything from performing music or drama, through to designing costumes or publicity material.
Personal, learning and thinking skills
All Diploma students are encouraged to develop skills like teamwork and self management as part of the course. You will learn how to express yourself confidently and apply your knowledge and skills creatively in a work environment.
The Diploma in Creative and Media does not mean you have to pursue a career in this sector. A Diploma gives you the relevant, transferable skills that will be welcomed by colleges, universities and employers.
