For the Diploma in Creative and Media your course will look at four main areas of the creative of this process:
- Creativity in context: The things that can influence the creative process, such as society, culture, the environment or the work of other people
- Thinking and working creatively: Ways of exploring, experimenting with and developing ideas, skills and techniques
- Principles, processes and practice: The skills, techniques and processes to turn your ideas into reality
- Creative businesses and enterprise: An understanding of real situations and the skills that you need to succeed in the industry
At Foundation level you are introduced to these ideas and skills; at Higher level you get to explore them more, and at
Advanced level you develop your understanding and skills in greater depth.

These are some of the things you might do on your course:
- Use your creative skills and ideas to make something
- Learn how to work up ideas, alone and in a team
- Learn about the work of other artists and how it relates to your own work
- Explore different creative disciplines
- Find out what you’re passionate about: from music to drama, film to textiles, 3D visual art to advertising
- See a project through from start to finish
- Identify an audience and their needs, and how this affects your work
- And find out about the business side of a creative project, like budgeting, team working and marketing your ideas and products
