What you can do next

What you can do next

The Diploma has been designed by employers, schools, colleges and universities: Which means the things you'll be learning are valued by all of them - and they'll know what you've studied to get your qualification.

Going on to Uni

Taking a Diploma can be the first step towards university.

  • If you do an Advanced Diploma, it's the same as three and a half A levels
  • You'll get the research and analytical skills you need to do a degree course
  • And you'll have the knowledge and life skills they're looking for
  • Even if you don't go on to study the same subject as your Diploma

Getting a job

Finding a job when you finish your Diploma is another option.

  • It's been developed by employers
  • So you'll get the skills and knowledge you need to do well in any job
  • Like creative thinking and how to work as part of a team
  • You'll also learn analytical, research and practical skills to help you succeed in a work environment

The Diploma won't train you to do a particular job. But what it will give you is the chance to develop the skills and practical experience you need to succeed in work, study and life - whatever you decide to do next.

Going on to college / other courses

You can go on to college when you finish your Diploma too.
You could:

  • Take the next level up Diploma, say Higher or Advanced
  • Do an NVQ, BTEC or other qualification
  • Do a similar subject to the one you studied for your Diploma
  • Or something completely different

Doing an Apprenticeship

If you want to start work, it's important to pick a job that offers you planned training leading to a nationally recognised qualification.

  • You can earn while you learn
  • You'll get top quality training
  • And develop skills and gain qualifications on the job

There are lots of ways to improve your skills and get qualifications, from Apprenticeships to the 'Entry to Employment' scheme.
